The virtual launching workshop of the “Integration of climate change adaptation measures in the coordinated management of the W-Arly-Pendjari trans-boundary complex (WAP)” project, shared by Benin, Burkina Faso and Niger, started this morning with as main purpose to consolidate the understanding and adoption of the project by the different stakeholders.
The main results expected from this workshop, in which approximately thirty people representing the 3 beneficiary countries and civil society participate, are to present and validate the priority activities to be carried out at the regional level, the methodology for establishing the project baseline, as well as reporting models (technical and financial reports).
The launching workshop will be followed by the 1st virtual meeting of the project steering committee, scheduled for April 22, 2020.
Since the beginning of the COVID crisis, the OSS has adapted its mode of operation and continues, online (through its video-conference platform broadcast live on its Facebook page), the implementation of its activities, workshops and training initially planned, thanks to the mobilization of its teams and other partners.
The ADAPT WAP Project, funded by the Adaptation Fund over a 4-year period (2019 - 2023), aims to strengthen the resilience of ecosystems and improve the living conditions of the populations of the WAP complex contending with climate change through the establishment of a multi-risk Early Warning System relating to droughts, floods and fires, and the implementation of concrete adaptation measures to manage these emergencies.
