Improving production of climate resilient rice in West Africa: The OSS organizes a remote regional consultation workshop to complete the regional RICOWAS project, April 14, 2020.
Given the exceptional pandemic situation of COVID 19, the OSS organizes a remote regional consultation workshop in order to establish a joint reflection on the RICOWAS project. This workshop brings together approximately 25 people including representatives from the 13 affected countries (national facilitators of the implementing entities), the regional adviser, the representative of the regional executing entity, the representative of ICARDA, the consultant in charge of completing the Project concept note, as well as the representatives of the OSS (implementing entity).
The main purpose of the workshop is to validate, through a participatory process, the project concept note which will soon be submitted to the financing of the Adaptation Fund and to collect the expectations and needs of all participants and to explain relevant points to complete the project concept note to be submitted to the Adaptation Fund.
The workshop is also an opportunity for the participants to know about the scope of the RICOWAS project, the related risks and the objectives to achieve during the implementation period. The opening was assured Mr. Khatim Kherraz, the OSS Executive Secretary, who paid thanks to the participants for their collaboration and support, and reminded that this participative workshop should make it possible to complete the project concept note with a key word "Producing more and better quality rice".
The RICOWAS project aims to improve climate change resilience and increase the productivity of the rice system of smallholder farmers across the West African region using a more climate-friendly production approach. It will be implemented
