The "Droughts, low water and water shortages" conference, to which the OSS - represented by its Executive Secretary, Mr. Khatim Kherraz - participates, aims to present and evaluate the tools to be developed for a reliable knowledge of the most likely evolution scenarios to imagine and propose the means to prepare for deep but very contrasting changes. The targeted area covers Western Europe, the Mediterranean perimeter with a priority to the Maghreb and West Africa from N'Djamena to Dakar, mainly French-speaking, and which present contexts in which French-speaking engineering and research centers are particularly active.

This conference, organized by UNESCO and SHF within the framework of UNESCO's International Hydrological Program (IHP) with the French Partnership for Water (FPW), is part of the contributions to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (in particular SDG6: Guaranteeing access for all to water and sanitation and ensuring sustainable water resources management) with multiple interfaces with other major challenges related to foo, security, energy, health
