Reporting the results of the monitoring-evaluation of the Sahel and West Africa program, June 18-19, 2019, Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso

The OSS organized the workshop on reporting the results of the monitoring-evaluation of the Sahel and West Africa program in Ouagadougou, on June 18 and 19, 2019.

On this occasion, the participants who represented the 12 countries of the program, reviewed the many achievements, challenges and perspectives related to the monitoring of sustainable land and water management actions conducted on the ground. Mrs. N'deye Fatou Mar, Remote Sensing Expert and Activity Manager for the BRICKS project at OSS, presented the main achievements of 5 years of monitoring-evaluation and use of geospatial tools. Mr. Louis Blanc Traore, Senior Expert in Monitoring-Evaluation, presented the results of 5 years of monitoring-evaluation of the SAWAP program with a focus on the difficulties encountered and the teachings with some recommendations of indicators for the monitoring-evaluation of the sustainable land and water management actions. Finally, Mr. Louis Evence Zoungrana from OSS, presented the regional study and summary report on advocacy for SLWM as well as some recommendations. During the final summary report of the workshop, presented by Dominique Zongo, coordinator of Burkina Faso's SAWAP project, the importance of maintaining contact between the countries and the OSS was emphasized to position itself and promote new partnerships in the context of projects being launched. The works ended with an address by Mr. Philippe Zoungrana (CILSS) coordinator of the BRICKS project at the regional level, in the presence of Mrs. Felicite Mangang from the IUCN.

The workshop ended with the official presentation, to all the country representatives, of the regional atlas of land use maps of the Sahel and West Africa region, covering the 12 countries of the program, namely Benin, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sudan, Chad and Togo.
