As part of the implementation of the Readiness Libya project, a workshop to raise awareness and mobilize Libyan partners around climate finance was held in Tunis from 20 to 22 June 2019. The objective of this event was to raise awareness of the stakeholders and partners involved in climate change, and to encourage national actors and partners to learn about climate financing mechanisms, particularly the Green Climate Fund (GCF).
The workshop, attended by approximately 25 participants representing the public and private sector, as well as NGO's, was structured around the following themes:
- Presentation of the various international agreements and conventions (UNFCCC, Paris agreements,...
- Current financing mechanisms with a focus on GCF and the mechanisms put in place by
- Presentation and discussion of project ideas
- Strengthening intra-national cooperation by setting up an ad hoc committee and proposing a memorandum
- Exchange of experiences, especially with the GCF Readiness Tunisia team.
In his welcome address, Mr. Kherraz the Executive Secretary of OSS, welcomed the participants and reiterated OSS' commitment to support Libya in carrying out it's first Readiness project and other possible initiatives.
