Bangoula, located in the town of Karma in the Tillabéri region, hosted the validation meeting of three studies on the development of transhumance corridors, water points & grazing areas on March 1-2, 2021.
The meeting was organized by the Directorate General of Water and Forests - DGWF under the chairmanship of Colonel Boubacar AMADOU with the participation of the different stakeholders of the AdaptWAP project: Ministries of the Environment, Livestock, Water, NGOs & breeders associations, as well as representatives of the CEDAC research company.
After the two-day works & the presentations followed by debates, all study documents submitted by CEDAC were validated, provided that the participants’ remarks, comments & recommendations are taken into account.
We are sure that after this meeting, real solutions will be given for agricultural migrants as well as transhumant livestock, who are living under pressures & facing natural resources availability issues.
The AdaptWAP project financed by the Adaptation Fund aims to promote the integration of climate change adaptation measures in the coordinated management of the W-Arly-Pendjari trans-boundary complex through the establishment of a Multi-Risk Early Warning System related to droughts, floods & fires, & the implementation of concrete adaptation measures to have these emergencies dealt with.
